Why Zirconia Crowns Fail & How to Avoid It 

A dentist and laboratory perspective on why zirconia crowns fail intraorally and in the laboratory. We will debate the material science of zirconia with a comparison to natural dentition and other leading restorative materials. The best practice of bonding techniques and steps to prepare the crowns will be illustrated. Karsten Klimmek will explain the importance of correct prep design, the possible failures, sandblasting, tinting of zirconia, staining techniques and best techniques to cut off crowns intraorally in case of failures.

This current evidence-based review of examination, diagnosis, airway and treatment will emphasize how to evaluate and apply risk assessment and easily communicate with your patients. It will help you stay current with the American Academy of Prosthodontics guidelines and ADA resolutions. Mark Murphy will explore the basic screening for the role of occlusion and airway in treatment planning. The focus will be on developing risk assessment skills that you can use right away in restoring your patients.

Help the participant develop a risk assessment protocol regarding occlusion in restorative care / Strengthen the participants understanding of current treatment protocol  /  Provide a splint therapy matrix for decision making.
